How Trusting God’s Promise to Walk Beside Us Inspires Courage
On the eighth day of the novena, we pray for courage—the strength to boldly live out our faith, stand for truth, and defend the vulnerable. In Joshua 1:9, God encourages us: “Be strong and courageous; do not be frightened or dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Courage is not the absence of fear but the resolve to act for what is right, trusting in God’s presence even when difficult or unpopular.
Novena Day 8: Sat., January 18, 2025
Courage in Leadership
Leadership requires boldness, but courage demands integrity, humility, and a commitment to justice. Leaders often face opposition or criticism when standing for what is right, yet courage matters most in these moments. Today’s prayer calls on God to strengthen our leaders with the resolve to prioritize the common good, defend the vulnerable, and act with truth and compassion, even when doing so is unpopular. Leaders who embrace courage inspire others to trust in their vision and follow their example of integrity and justice.
Courage in Our Lives
As people of faith, we are called to live with courage in extraordinary moments and the quiet, everyday choices that shape our lives. Courage is not reserved for dramatic acts of heroism; it is woven into our decisions, conversations, and responses to the challenges around us. Each day presents opportunities to reflect God’s love and justice in ways that may require us to step outside our comfort zones and confront the things that keep us silent or afraid.
Courage challenges us to speak out against injustice, even when doing so feels risky or uncomfortable. It means standing up for what is right, whether defending a coworker’s dignity, supporting someone who feels unseen, or addressing inequities within our communities. Courage also calls us to advocate for those who are marginalized, recognizing that our faith compels us to be voices for the voiceless and to extend God’s compassion to those in need. Living courageously means not shrinking back when our beliefs are challenged but remaining steadfast, trusting that God is our strength in every trial.
To live courageously is to trust in God’s promise to be with us wherever we go. Fear often whispers that we are alone, incapable, or unworthy, but faith reminds us that God walks beside us, equipping us with the boldness to act in truth and love. Courage allows us to move forward despite uncertainty, knowing that our strength comes from God, not ourselves. When we trust in this promise, we find the freedom to embrace the mission God has placed before us, reflecting His light in a world that desperately needs it. Courage rooted in faith transforms ordinary actions into powerful witnesses of God’s love and justice.
