What Happens When Leaders Seek God’s Wisdom?

On this seventh day of the novena, we turn to God as the source of all wisdom, asking for his guidance in the decisions that shape our lives and our nation. James 1:5 reminds us, “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” This promise encourages us to seek God’s wisdom not only in moments of uncertainty but in every aspect of our lives.

Novena Day 7: Fri., January 17, 2025

A Prayer for Leaders

Our nation’s leaders face complex challenges that affect countless lives. Their decisions have far-reaching consequences, making wisdom essential in their role. Wisdom isn’t simply knowledge or cleverness—it is the ability to discern what is right and just, guided by humility and a desire to serve the common good. Today’s prayer asks God to grant this wisdom to those in leadership, so they may act with integrity, prioritize justice, and seek unity in their governance. Leaders who lean on God’s wisdom are better equipped to make decisions that uplift and protect the dignity of all people.

Wisdom in Our Own Lives

While we pray for our leaders, we are also called to seek wisdom in our daily choices. True wisdom leads us to choose truth over convenience, integrity over compromise, and compassion over indifference. It challenges us to align our actions with God’s will, even when the right choice is difficult or unpopular. Each of us has the opportunity to be a witness to wisdom in our families, communities, and workplaces by acting with fairness and honesty.

Reflection Questions

  • Where in your life do you need God’s wisdom right now?

  • How can you encourage leaders to seek wisdom in their decisions?

  • What choices can you make today to reflect God’s truth and integrity?

Action for Today

Take time today to ask God for wisdom in an area of your life where you feel uncertain. Whether it’s a decision you face, a relationship that needs healing, or a challenge in your community, trust that God’s guidance will lead you to what is right and just.

Wisdom is a gift that God generously offers to those who seek it with humility. As we pray today, may we trust in God’s guidance to light our path and inspire our actions, both as individuals and as a nation.

Let Us Pray

/Lord, grant me your wisdom to choose what is true and just. Help me act with integrity and inspire others to seek your guidance. Bless our leaders with discernment and humility as they make decisions for the common good. Amen.
